Meet Dr. JoAnn Johnson

Dr. JoAnn Johnson and Crash, her Quarter Horse at the time we opened the practice. Crash now lives near Rochester.

Frontier Equine Practice, LLC is owned by Dr. JoAnn Johnson and was established in February, 2002.  Dr. Johnson received her bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1992, her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 1996, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University at Buffalo in 2002.

Dr. Johnson worked for four years exclusively as an equine veterinarian in Western New York subsequent to completing her studies at Cornell.  She took some time away from practicing in 2001/2002 to complete her MBA full-time and returned to practice by opening Frontier Equine.  The practice is founded on the principles of providing high-quality medicine, customer relations, and value for services.

Dr. Johnson's own family includes two horses, four (or six, it depends how you count them) cats, one dog, one husband, and one daughter Megan.

Meet Dr. Danielle Doubleday

Dr. Doubleday.

Frontier Equine is proud to welcome Dr. Danielle Doubleday to our practice and to Western New York. Dr. Doubleday is from New Brunswick, Canada and is planning on enjoying our (relatively) warm winters. Dr. Doubleday received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of New Brunswick in 2001. She graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada in May 2006. Danielle’s family includes her husband, Carlos, three cats, and her horse Ginger.
Meet Sue Heater

Sue and her horse Raygaro.

Sue Heater is the friendly voice on the end of the line when you call the office. Sue handles scheduling appointments, sending out your statements & reminder notices, and is there when you visit the office for medicine or just to chat.

Sue has extensive customer service experience gained from working in the banking industry.  She has also worked at a large Arabian show and breeding farm in NC in the office and barn. Sue has been around and owned horses for most of her life. She spent several years traveling and showing Arabians with her daughter, Missy, and her national champion, TR Brazen.

Meet Alisha Wolsiefer, LVT

It took a while, but we finally got a picture from Alisha.

Alisha Wolsiefer, LVT is another strong addition to the staff. Alisha is our first LVT and is working full time with us. Many of you have met Alisha as she's made many farm trips with us as part of her educational requirements while she was in school, and many more of you will meet her as she travels with both doctors on their daily rounds. Alisha has horses of her own and is a strong contributor to your horse's health care team.
